Uganda launches covid-19 vaccination campaign!

Uganda, today Wednesday 10th March 2021 has began vaccinating high-priority healthcare workers, journalists, against coronavirus, as initial consignments of the long-awaited drugs began to be rolled out in East Africa. In Uganda, the Minister of Health, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng was the first to receive the jab, after the drugs arrived in the country on Monday. Dr Acheng Ruth after the jab “I feel great that I have taken the Covid vaccine and I urge other health workers not to fear. The vaccine is safe,”

 Uganda has launched its national vaccination program, two days after receiving 100,000 additional doses of the Covid-19 vaccine donated by the Indian government. So far, Uganda has received 964,000 doses of the vaccine through donations.


The launch was held at the Specialised Women and Neonatal Hospital at Mulago.

Aceng was followed by health Permanent Secretary Diana Atwine. 

Health state minister for general duties, Robinah Nabbanja: I feel fine. Our fellow Ugandans should summon the courage to take the vaccine.

UNICEF Country Representative, Dr. Munir Safieldin: I feel fine and I am happy that the vaccines are now available in Uganda. I encourage everyone who is eligible to take the jab. Covid-19 vaccines are safe; they save lives.
