ORIGIN OF THE PHRASE "EZI MBAGUTA YATEIRE MUHA"
In Banyankore culture, you must have always heard a phrase "Nibakuteera Ezi mbaguta yateire muha" Meaning you will be given lashes like those which Mbaguta gave the fox. This is the historical Origin of that phrase In 1895, Omugabe Ntare died and immediately, Kahisi Mwene Mutambuka announced himself as the new king of Ankore. This however was rejected by prime minister Nuwa Mbaguta who said the rightful person to the throne was Kahaya Mwene Igumira. There was a disagreement between the two factions that almost caused the bloodshed. Owek Nuwa Mbaguta sent messengers to Kabaka Mwanga of Buganda asking him for military support. Kabaka Mwanga accepted but gave terms and conditions that Ankore should also be ready to help Buganda with manpower in fighting against the British. Buganda officials travelled to Ankore to deliver the message. Owek Nuwa Mbaguta didn't understand Luganda well. He ordered everyone in the Palace to keep quiet as he was listening...
